This week we finished tracking drums for 4 new songs. We have continued on with the recording that started back in late 2008. I’ve been working on adding the bass tracks, guitar tracks, and vocals for the songs. The plan is to have the majority of the recording done by early February. Gen will be working on the artwork for the album. We will have a total of 10 songs on the second CD. Stay tuned for more news on our second CD.
We’ve got an update! (finally) We have a new cover song — “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch”. So far, it has gotten good reviews as a punk/rocked out version of the song.
A live version of the cover will be posted on our YouTube account this weekend. Just in time for Christmas…
We’re currently working on new songs for our upcoming album this winter. We’re adding the finishing touches to the songs before recording them. Genevieve’s song is turning out nicely, she’s singing lead vocals for that song which gives me flexibility to concentrate on my guitar parts. Our bassist search is still going on, so it looks like I’ll be filling in on writing/playing the basslines on the new songs for the new album. As fas as the songs from our recording studio project last December, we’ll include most of the material with newly recorded vocals/guitars. We do plan on playing a show or two before the end of the year, so we’ll keep you updated on our plans.
Affinity Zero would like to introduce our newest member of the band,
Gen! She is our new rhythm guitarist. Her influences are similar to
ours: Jawbreaker, Say Anything, AFI, Elliott Smith, Lagwagon, Social
Distortion. We are enjoying having a second guitarist as the songs are
sounding a lot more powerful.
We are working in new guitar parts to our existing setlist and also
working on new material. 3 new songs have been written within the past few weeks and we’re planning to add them the upcoming CD. Stay tuned…
Welcome back everyone! I’ve been really busy for the past several weeks, so theres a slight backlog on the videos. I finally completed day 2 of the studio recording video. It shows the recording process with the very important metronome. Aaron’s quote about the click track sounding like Pac Man was priceless! As for the EP, its about 95% complete now, just a few things to touch up before we send the CDs off for production. The album title is still being finalized as with the artwork. Stay tuned…
By the way, check out the video in HQ. Its recorded in HD and the audio is like 10x better.
We’ve been getting questions on when our next show will be. We’ll plan on having a local Riverside area show early next year with another show in LA/Hollywood right after.
Affinity Zero is busy working on the CD with album cover art, re-recording the guitar parts on some of the tracks, and most importantly — the name of the album (which we have decided last night during dinner).
Videos from the studio session (Day 2 and Day 3) will be posted on the site within the next week or so. We’ll probably have some live rehearsal videos added from last night’s practice too.
Here’s a video montage of our 1st day of recording our upcoming EP release at Lunchbox Studios. We spent all day tracking drums to the songs, along with Al putting down scratch guitar and guitar tracks. The recording is going through pretty fast, with drums being completed on all 7 songs in 1 day. Tomorrow, we’ll be tracking Doug’s vocals, bass, and Al will be recording the guitars. We’ll be updating the site with more videos throughout the studio recording session.
We are currently working on finalizing our songs for the upcoming EP release “My Epiphany”. The EP has a darker theme in comparison to our previous release and it has a more cohesive feel. The musical style of the release ranges from hard rock, alternative rock, and rockabilly. We plan on having video footage of the studio recording sessions, which will start at the end of November. The EP will be released in early 2009.
We are also re-recording two songs from our last album “Frustration” and a new and improved version of “Consequences” at the studio.
Live Recording of “Consequences” at our June 2008 show Recorded on Canon HF100 digital camera in HD, edited using Sony Vegas Professional 8.0 (really nice software)
Our cover of “The Metro” at a rehearsal.
Our cover of the “Star Wars Imperial March” Daynah suits up in a Vader costume and does a cool dance to our cover of the Star Wars Imperial March. We usually play this song to open our shows.

We wanted to thank everyone who made it to the May 31st show! We had a great time and hope you did too! The Brew House is nice — cool seating section next to the stage, delicious food, and a beautiful crowd! Thanks to everyone who made it out to the show… we appreciate the support! We’re definitely looking at having another all ages show after our June 28th show.
Krista’s daughter stole the show with her dancing during “The Metro.” What a Kodak moment! Al also wore the Darth Vader helmet for the Star Wars Imperial March cover song. Thanks Benji — great cover song idea! Thanks to the following people who made it to their first Affinity Zero show — Diane, Carol, Sahra + family, Krista + family, Benji, Joey. We hope to see you again at future shows. Videos and photos will be posted up soon!
Here’s an adorable clip of Chloe dancing to Frustration!
Affinity Zero’s unofficial video for the Imperial March cover song. Darth Vader does the Urkel dance to the Imperial March theme. Hilarious! Daynah stars as Darth Vader Urkel. Al as wannabe Guitar Hero.
